About Gemboree 2023

Gemboree 2023 is the Australian National Gem and Mineral Show. It is an annual event held in a different state around the nation. This year, it will be held in Dayboro, Queensland and brings together some of Australia’s foremost lapidary and gemstone dealers, tailgaters, and market stalls. You’ll have the opportunity to interact with experts in the field and gain insights into their craft. And of course, there’ll be minerals, jewellery, gemstones and beads for sale.

Gemboree 2023: Talk by Murray Thompson

Did you know…Gemboree 2023 also has live demonstrations and lectures. Experts in the field will be conducting talks throughout the event.

Don’t miss Murray Thompson (Desert Fire Design’s founder) for his captivating talk, “Green & Gold – WA Chrysoprase & Gold in Quartz” where he will delve into the beauty and rarity of Western Australia’s Chrysoprase and Gold in Quartz.

In this 45-minute presentation, you’ll discover the rich history, geology, and intricate lapidary techniques that make these unique gemstones so sought-after.

With years of experience in the industry, Murray is renowned for sourcing and cutting some of the most exquisite gemstones from Western Australia and around the world. Don’t miss your chance to learn from a true master of the craft. After the talk, Murray will be available for a 15-minute Q&A session, where you can ask him any questions you have about his work and the lapidary industry.
