A stunningly included, naturally occurring, multi-coloured Lapis Lazuli with pyrite veining from the mines of Afghanistan fashioned as a rectangular shaped, multi convex and concave faced cabochon.

Cut in a deceptively simple looking, rectangular tablet style, the face of this gem is made up of four convex and one concave face, as I saw fit to highlight the delightfully playful pyrite inclusions. The variable blue colouring, so atypical of this material from the mines in Afghanistan is due to the presence of low impact calcite melding with the parent lapis host.
This outstanding, naturally coloured, fine grained Lapis takes a superior polish including the pyrite and calcite too.
It is rare to be able to secure material of this calibre; fine grained, saturated blue colouring offset by shy blooms of calcite and startling pyrite veining, all present in the one gem.
