Golden-brown grunerite-quartz rock. Grunerite patterning displays a silky lustre with a beautiful glitter effect when viewed in light.

Wodgina Mining area

My friend Barry at Aradon re-introduced this material to me quite recently. The rough I had worked previously had presented well enough in varying shades of yellows and browns but this blazed with rich reds, bright yellows and beautiful golden tones. When cut with a transparent, rich silica (quartz) matrix vein to the rear it cuts exceptionally vibrant gems, it fairly looks like gold.
